Why Each LIDAH® Handpan Takes 40+ Days to Build
So many handpans online promise to be “handmade” — yet few show who actually made them.
At LIDAH®, everything begins with real people and real craftsmanship. Our journey started in 2017, when a single sound in Bali changed everything.
What began as curiosity grew into a deep partnership with local artisans — men and women who shape every tone by hand, guided by patience and ear.
In a small studio surrounded by rice fields, we learned to tune steel until it sang — not just accurately, but beautifully. That same care still defines every instrument we send into the world today.

Built by Ear, Not Machines
Each LIDAH® Handpan starts as a simple sheet of steel and becomes a living, resonant instrument through hundreds of careful hammer strikes.
Each handpan passes through four precise tuning stages and takes 40+ days to complete — crafted from premium stainless and ember steel for a rich, rust-resistant tone.
No factory shortcuts, no rushed production — just craftsmanship that honors the sound’s origin.
