For beginners, the most popular and best choice is the D Kurd 10. It has a wide emotional range. All notes sound beautifully together, so you can easily play without worrying about mistakes.

Mini Handpans are also a great beginner-choice. Their compact size makes them easy to handle while still having a full, rich sound.

If you don’t have a strong preference, D  Kurd and Mini Handpans are a great choice. Ultimately, the right handpan is the handpan that moves you most. Listen to the sound samples and choose the sound that resonates with you.

We offer three main models, crafted from two premium steels:

• Mini Handpan (43 cm) → Compact, lightweight, and easy to play. Made from stainless steel, it has a clear, bright tone with long resonance. Perfect for smaller players, travel, or anyone who wants a portable option—while still delivering the warm, full handpan sound.

• Stainless Steel Handpan (53 cm) → Clear, warm tone with a long sustain. Very rust-resistant, low-maintenance, and ideal for meditation and relaxed play.

• Ember Steel Handpan (53 cm)→ Warm, deep tone with an exceptionally long sustain (even longer than stainless). Also rust-resistant and low-maintenance. Due to its exclusivity and complex production, availability may be more limited.

The best choice is always the one that resonates with you most.

Our handpans are built to last. With normal use, they stay perfectly in tune for 3–7+ years before needing any retuning. If a note ever drifts, simply contact us and we’ll retune it for you.

Every instrument comes with a 2-year tuning warranty: if anything happens during normal use, we’ll fix it free of charge. Even after the warranty, you can always send it back for retuning at a fair price. This way, you can buy with complete peace of mind.

Not at all! Because all notes belong to the same scale, they sound nice together. You don’t need any prior musical background to create beautiful melodies.

Most beginners can play simple rhythms within days. With practice, you’ll quickly discover more patterns and techniques. To support your journey, every handpan includes free lifetime access to an Online Handpan course: over 30 step-by-step video lessons. This makes learning fun and accessible at your own pace.

When you order a LIDAH handpan, you don’t just receive an instrument, you receive a complete package to start your journey right away:
